Trachycarpus princeps

Take a look at my T.princeps grown from seeds of the stone gate., 2 different styles of bluish palms, quite interesting .They are all from the same batch of 20 seeds I sowed among which 18 are germinated gradually over several years, but half failed for various reasons .What's fascinating is that the slender ones exhibit more apparent white powder to the underside of the leaves.

      Hi Garry !

      That´s indeed very interesting !

Are the seeds from the same plant or different trees ?

      Could that be hybrids ?

The few seeds were picked from parent T.princeps on the cliffs in the stone gate ,hard to know if they were from the same plant or different trees .The following are several others from the same batch of seeds I am growing in the field and they all show blue silver colors and compact leaves.
I am not sure if genes play a part in their performance and to what degree, one thing I do know the growing conditions are different. The slender ones were in sandy and partly shady area and compact ones in fertile and sunny place. So it is assumed that the main reason why they demonstrated such big difference could be connected with their growing conditions.I'll wait and see see how they develop over longer term.
Also a comparison is made with nova and tesan under the same condition and we can see its interesting unique bluish tinge.
